Hi Rob, Thanks for your reply!
Everyone online receommends a Rode NT1-A, so I think I'll go for that, especially as you've confirmed Rode is reliable.
Love the coathanger tip

Looking forward to seeing who wins. Loved all the entries! Tone's is my fav so far...

Hey @SamuelClouston - As usual another banger from you! Really nice arrangement and sound selection and the structure works well. If I was going to throw some thoughts:
Drum levels are slightly inconsistent and at times the snare feels a little jarring. Also it feels like some of the instruments and drums get in each others ways at certain times. I'm loving the acid bass when it first comes in and then it just falls back and becomes a bass (losing the high end movement) - that feels like a shame, although its feels very welcome when it returns at the end.
Saying that I wish I could produce something that sounded as polished as this. Lovely track

Hi Smillington - that's super useful feedback, thank you. You're right, it was lacking a bit of precision, particularly with the bass. I'm going to switch it up and make the bass more acidy - definitely a good shout - same with the snares.
Woah! These are so good! Love Tone's entry - proper 80s nostalgia kicking in
Hi all
So, recording maybe isn't something at the top of the list of priorities for a lot of electronic producers - it's very easy to stay completely in the box and get great results.
However, I've been experimenting a lot more with recording bits of my voice, percussion, guitars etc to add organic layers to my tunes.
And my question is... what are some good recording tips?
I know for example, you shouldn't be too close to the mic as it'll be too bassy, but also not too far as you'll start hearing the room reverb. And that when you're recording your voice you should do it at an angle.
I know these as small tidbits of info but would be nice to have a pro explain them properly, and any other good info - recommended microphones etc.
Thanks!
Awesome - I'm excited to see these tutorials! Especially The future rave one...

Well, I'm no expert as you know
so I'll refrain from the professional feedback, but it sounds ... delicious.
Really, I want to drink that song.
[/quote]Hey Petter - thanks so much - that's very kind. Big fan of the stuff you've posted in here recently. Keep it up!
Can't say I've tried the new pack generator, but Output's stuff is generally insanely good. I use Output Thermal on basically every track I've ever made, it makes your drum groups sound insane and professional at the click of a button - it's my most recommended plugin. So definitely try that if you haven't already!
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone could give me feedback on this track I did recently.
Hi Petter
Big fan of this - really well mixed actually. The drums are super well balanced and punchy - that's usually where most people slip up.
I'd say you've ticked all three of the critera you set yourself. The bass is very warm, and subby, but sits really nicely in the mix.
I wiuldn't say there's much wrong with this song at all - and a nice tune to top it off!
