This is the thread for the Jafunk Ecstacy Remix Comp with info, instructions and rules for taking part... Listen to Ecstacy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xId-lGvhc4& Prizes for 1st place are: KORG Minilogue XD Hardware Synth, Eventide Elevate Mastering Plugin Bundle, 1 Year of Loopcloud Professional Subscription, 1 Year of Producertech Membership Prizes for 2nd and 3rd places are: Eventide Punctuate Plugin, 1000 Loopcloud Points, 1 Year of Producertech Membership To take part, download the stems from here: https://tinyurl.com/57793m5j You can use these to make your own remix, remembering to stay faithful to the original whilst giving it your own spin. Use as many or as few of the stems as you require to do this. It can be a tricky balance but just be sure not to make it too similar to the original track or nothing like it. The sweet spot is in that wide range in between! Your track can be in any genre or bpm, and be any length, but make sure the arrangement is complete - a submission that sounds unfinished or is just one section of a track won't be sufficient to win. When you're happy, upload your track to your page on the Community site and then post a link to it on this thread. Deadline is 6th November. Best of luck! p.s. @betterledproductions the idea with the oneshots is to leave them as they are, e.g. all other sounds in the track need to come from the loop you choose
@menace we didn't officially set one, but we'll close the competition phase of the assignment at the end of October

As for the legality... You can always remix and mash up released music for fun and playing out. If you post it somewhere, you might have to take it down if algorithms flag it. I think you shouldn't share tracks like this technically (give them to anyone), as that might be considered as distributing copyrighted material, but DJs have done that kind of thing forever so it's common despite the legal side being a bit of a grey area. As you say, the biggest no no is when you try to earn money from it, by releasing or otherwise, which is when labels might hunt you down!!
