Anyone got any requests for this week's bonus tutorial subject? I'll come up with something if nobody can think of anything, but now's your chance if you have any particular subjects you're struggling with, as we don't have anything locked in yet....

Would be well up for something around mastering and or an example of working with a reference track in this context..

(Although am thinking this may be covered in future funk squad's tutorial anyway)

A subject I find interesting and useful is how to turn a 8 bar loop into a full track.

Just an idea. gentleman

Probably too late for this time around, but maybe one for the future - I'd really benefit from some tips on getting good results from using a vocoder

Thanks all! I think Vocoding is actually a great idea for this week.

Turning an 8-bar loop into a full track sounds like a good plan for next week's livestream - I know people can never have enough arrangement tips! I'm actually working on a brand new track, which should be good for this too.

Mastering is a deep subject Simon! And, honestly, not one I'm particularly specialised in, which is why I generally leave it to Seppa, Adam Goodlet and the other tutors with more experience on that front. That said, I could do an Ozone 10 focus. Would that be of interest? Maybe that could be the first stream back in Jan.....

Just reaching out again to ask the community if there are any particular topics you're struggling with, be it certain aspects of production, types of effect, or general problematic stages in the composition process... let us know and we'll try and help out with bonus tutorials or livestreams on those subjects!

So let us know if you're in need!

How about Sub bass processing? For such an important part of a track, it would be good to know a bit more about how to get a smooth, chunky sound.

Great suggestion! I'm working on a really nice set of tips for processing bass to get tracks sounding really fat!

I've also spoken to Mr Maddox who's going to continue the theme in his livestream next week...

Thanks Rob.

For future livestreams... I'd love to know about glue compression, and when and where to use it. seems like its mega important but i'm kinda in the dark!

I'm obviously happy to do plenty more lessons on compression but you may also want to check out my Compression Fundamentals course as well... in a nutshell, Live's glue compression is a slightly gentler, more analogue compressor compared to Live's main one. It often gets better-sounding and more musical results. It's really great on buses as it's amazing for gentle compression that just helps knit everything together, hence the name!

Hi Rob

Would you ever consider going into how to set up midi-synced set ups, like makign sure multiple synths and your DAW are sticking to the same BPM when changed, etc?

We could do some hardware tuts maybe yeah. I'll be putting together a proper live rig for the new band soon so maybe that will be a good time to do something along those lines....
