Even though it is a case of running before I can walk I would like to suss out the commercial dimensions of certain musical genres I might take an interest in. Is there a free resource that you know of that provide genre based analytics? Of course I know the Beatport top-100 with its current h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e number one at the time of this writing (California Dreamin' (feat. High Jinx) by Chris Lorenzo) : https://www.beatport.com/top-100
I have just subscribed to viberate.com which gives me a week or so access to the ridiculously expensive analytics module but no analytics are available yet for nearly all dance genres unless we zoom out to the electronic genre itself. Still interesting because of the hundreds of names of (commercially) successful artists whom I never heard of [sigh] and the realization that Music is only one pillar of the Social, Music, Network triad… [sigh 2].

I'm not aware of a free resource for this. It would be interesting to see though.

Not sure if it's what you're after, but have you looked at beatstats.com?
@simon-unsigned thx for that suggestion, their interface at least provides a broader range allowing a quick perusal compared to the boxy presentation of Beatport themselves. Swiftly exploring the Tech House top 100 I have found out I only like (somewhat) 1 track in 10 and the whole genre is rather predictable/trite/formulaic/boring. Starting to have doubts about the destination/purpose of my journey!
