Does anyone know any good books on Electronic Music, specifically genres and sub-genres? I'm not that familiar with music writers.

This isn't strictly electronic music but it's a good read about the origins of what become house music

I've also got my eye on this, haven't read it myself but looks good - there's other versions for Moog as well

Hi there.
I'm currently reading this one and I think there are great tips for our genres included. In principle they can be useful for all kind of genre, but when you read into it, you will notice that the author is more familiar with our kind of genres.
Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers
Dennis DeSantis
Additionally to this I can recommend the following books for EDM:
The Producer's Mindset: How To Think Like A Producer And Achieve Success (Making Electronic Music Book 1)
In general:
The Mixing Engineer's Handbook 4th Edition
Bobby Owsinski
The Mastering Engineer's Handbook 4th Edition
Bobby Owsinski
Kind Regards

Sound on sound do a great podcast called "electronic music" - they interview different people in the music business each episode.

I got a bunch of recommendations from a music journalism friend....
• Energy Flash - Simon Reynolds (Rave)
• Join the Future - Matt Anniss (Bleep Techno)
• Last Night a DJ Saved My Life - Bill Brewster (DJing)
• Inner City Pressure - Dan Hancox (Grime)
• Turn the Beat Around - Peter Shapiro (Disco)
• Remixology: Tracing the Dub Diaspora - Paul Sullivan (Dub)
The last one is written by the journalist who recommended the others!

The Ambient Century by Mark Prendergrast
Great book - makes you realise ambient has been around a lot longer than Brian Eno, and that is permeates nearly all music genres!
