Zeta5 - New Track

Let us hear you!

[quote="SamuelClouston"]

I think the mixing of genres and blurring the lines is what creativity is all about. With the internet and categories, I've always come across a lot of genre purists (having been one myself!) and realising over time that melding and experimenting is the way forward - and is how you create fresh music and potentially new genres!

Ahh Hybrid 3 - superrrrr great synth with fantastic controls and a great bank of presets - and I remember it often goes fo only £1 on Plugin Boutique, absolute steal.

Keep up the good work!

100% on the genre mixing and blurring! However it is useful for perusing Beatport or Soundcloud to have an idea of where a track sits!

The only reason I have Hybrid3 is because it is always bundled with Akai products and I have x2 APCs and a MPK Mini, so technically have x3 licenses! I like it and have bought some good Trance presets, but wanted something new recently to explore more sounds and so the Spire was rated highly for my styles of Trance and Techno, so am giving it a spin!

Mix help

Let us hear you!

Hey Samuel, nice track and arrangement! Something a bit different again. Hard to tell exactly what it is due to my amateur ear! However I agree it does sound quite constrained and if you've not done any kind of processing yet, perhaps it is the sounds you are using? It does sound a bit muddy in places and perhaps needs some EQ to help? There is a brighter, slightly shining sound that seems to appear right at the end that perhaps stands out above the lower frequencies? Not sure that is anywhere else and perhaps using some brighter sounds would add some dynamic range and open it all up a bit more?

Have you also tried turning the sidechaining off one by one? That could definitely be containing some of the sounds. What are you sidechaining from and how many of the sounds are affected?

Zeta5 - New Track

Let us hear you!

Hey both, thanks for the positive comments, appreciate it!

@samuelclouston - I always want to try and blur the genre lines a bit. I agree the baseline is very trance based, probably quite Psy in nature, which I like in my tracks but I always want to bring in the uplifting, melodic vibes to really contrast parts of my track from one another.

On the Synths, the main lead is actually a sample, but the arpeggiated one is from the Hybrid3 and there is also a new synth I have just bought in there, the string type tension sound, which is from Spire. I have not had much chance to play with this yet so I am excited to see what it can bring to my productions.

I have used Hybrid 3 loads and whilst I like it, I need to learn synthesis a bit more to get the most from it!

Zeta5 - New Track

Let us hear you!

It's been too long since I finished one, and failed to get the Succession assignment complete, but at last my latest track is done (real life has been hectic!). Hope you enjoy it! Bit more melodic than usual and the BPM is a bit lower than my standard 138, but still the driving vibe I always try and go for.

BANGERS

General Producer Chat

Just had to get on this one!

If there is one tune that encapsulates the word BANGER, in the quite literal sense I would say my fave tune of all time is it! Quite different to the tunes posted here so far but for me it is one of the few tunes that can quite literally give me shivers and make me want to bounce around the room no matter what mood I am in (and it is my go to whenever I feel down!).

Vengeance - Temptation (Denga & Manus Remix)

It has everything I want in a tune:

A pumping start with a piercingly rich kick, simple bass and great accompanying sounds that glitch and pump and drive their way to....

An amazingly uplifting breakdown, I mean the if that's not hands in the air, tingles, heart just slowly rising to your neck, feel good happiness I have no idea what is! And if that high, a train of spine tingling goodness is not enough, it starts to build, there you are floating above the dance floor when suddenly someone straps a jet back on you..........and what a build it is...filthy bassline starts to signal the impending drop.......bang, mayhem, a chance to ride those jets, I little dark, driving energy, but then you are reminded of that uplift, that place you once were and yet more euphoria, suspended in the clouds, no need to breath, just float there, ready for that filthy driving drop once again, that choppy arpeggiated lead really does it for me and keeps the track wholesome and complete, in the apparent chaos lurks a cohesive tune that sparks pure joy and I love it!

Can you tell how much I love it laughing-2

I think technically I do get most of the techniques and have used a few in my own work. It is a master class in transitions and atmosphere imo and it is just that mix of uplifting euphoria that then gives you that banging drop. I've spent a lot of my clubbing years at massive festivals like global gathering and creamfields and for me this was the era of Trance that did it for me, though I am no purest, anything that takes you on a journey and makes you feel happy is in my collection! This is a solid 100/100 for me, love it!

I am hoping those that have heard the tunes I have produced to date, recognise some of this style in my own, if in some small way!

Hope you all enjoy it, I know it isn't to everyones taste!

SUCCESSION ASSIGNMENT

Announcements

Great work all, especially loving your effort Tone, really well executed 80's vibe! Have to admit I have struggled with this one, might be a bit controversial but I am not a fan of the original which has made it hard to work with and still trying to work out the theory from Rob's tutorial! I may still get something in but my time is unfortunately limited and I have my own next track to try and get out! Good work though everyone
