Is anyone making ambient?

Let us hear you!

I'm getting into producing a lot of ambient music, but not having much luck? Can anyone give me any pointers for creating ambient music? what software/synths/techniques do you use?

Funky Techno Vocal Chop Tutorial

General Producer Chat

Loopmasters are pretty much industry standard for good quality samples, much better than splice etc in my opinion! also samplign straight off records is always a fun way to go

Track: Beach Cruiser Simulator Classic | Synthwave

Let us hear you!

I absolutely love this - very well produced as well. You clearly know what you're doing mix wise. What synths are you using for these lovely 80's sounds?

New track - Citrus Voices

Let us hear you!

Very nice Neon Critter! This is a bit of me. Got a kind of Berlin feel to it with the pounding kicks. Very intense and hard

HI, my first post on the forum. I usually make ravey/breakbeaty/ambient techno, but recently been experimenting with vintage drum machines and hip hop vocals to hopefully make something quite unique:

I really like it ! Kinda feel this could easily be in a film. Are they your vocals? Impressive number of followers on Soundcloud, how did you manage that?

How come the track is private?
[/quote]

Cheers mate - they arent my vocals no, its sample from a famous american rapper called Travis Scott. Thanks - funnily enough, thats my secondary account, my main account has 2700 followers. Thats not to show off - just to mean that I've been active in the scene for a long time and have had some semi big releases, so it kinda makes sense. Keep going and you'll be there in no time!

I put most of my tracks private on my page as they're either unfinished or I want to later release them - so can't spill them out into the public just yet.

What's your top 10 Albums?

General Producer Chat

I have lots of different fav genre albums but I cant colalte them so I'll just focus on electronic music:

Skee Mask - Compro (My all time fav electronic album - so fkin good)
Special Request - Soul Music
Goldie - Timeless
Horsepower Productions - In Fine Style
Eastman - Red, White & Zero
Yamaneko - Spa Commisions
The ORB - UFORB
The KLF - Chill Out
Akkord - Akkord
K-Lone - Cape Cira

Im not very good at listening to albums (low attention span) so for me to have actually listened to these albums as a whole is testament to itself.... I like to think that if you listened to every electronic track I ever made, you would find almost all the musical ideas in these 10 album.

Missing Orbital - Orbital II because i only know like 3 tracks, but those three tracks are hugely influential - but it felt wrong including it becuase I only know three songs

Studio setup and sound treatment

Thanks for the link, sounds easy enough to make me want to have a go, I also found this video which uses the same approach but slightly different frame and also allows you to make the panels thicker, which probably helps their effectiveness.

Yeah, that looks great! You wont regret making them - they seriously take your mixing/mastering game to the next level. Also just makes listening to music a joy!
