This week, we've got some bonus sound design tutorials for you, looking specifically at granular synthesis - one of our favourite types of sound design! The tutorial got a bit lengthy, so it's ended being a part 1, with part 2 coming next week.... part 1 is mostly working with Granulator III (new synth for Suite owners coming out with Live 12). Part 2 will be with Phase Plant.

Yeah in terms of the sound design and mixing skills, you can refer to any of the 'fatter' styles of music, like D&B, Bass Music, Mainroom House, Techno... etc. Seppa, Reso, The Cyborgs all have good pointers in their courses.
As for the arrangement, it's just the same as a lot of other styles only more full on! AMp'd up! Basically with fewer parts and ideas, but way more processing.
We could have a crack at a Hardstyle course, or maybe a bonus set of tuts for members - it would be fun!
What do you reckon then guys? and Mr Millington? More excited about Live 12 now? What looked most interesting? Does it look worth it to get Suite?
For anyone who hasn't seen the stream, the main USPs of Live 12 Suite over Live 12 Standard are...
• Max 4 Live - bit of a biggie really, although I think it may still be sold separately?
• Meld (pretty cool new synth - reckon it will have some nice presets when they're done)
• Roar (very cool new audio effect)
• all of the audio effects you didn't get in v 11, e.g. Echo, Hybrid Reverb, Amp, Cabinet, Spectral stuff like Resonator, plus all the Max 4 Live ones!
• other Suite instruments like Operator, Sampler and Wavetable
• Packs! There are a hell of a lot and I also have very few but there may well be a lot of quality ones - 198 are currently available to download in my browser. I'll have to delve into some of them and let you know...
So that's quite a lot of gooood stuff there, a fair bit of which would be quite sorely missed if you had to downgrade. If you do have a great plugin collection though and wouldn't miss those instruments and particularly effects, or can buy some of the ones you would as @deltadio said, then maybe standard is fine.
For anyone who won't be upgrading, the good news is you get Analog, Collision, Tension and Electric (former Suite instruments) in the Standard version from v12!

Our latest assignment is to rework a festive song into a recognisable, instrumental, electronic track of your own. Our favourite track wins a MASSIVE PRIZE with a runners up prize for second place as well. You have to the end of the year to do it and then winners will be chosen in a feedback session on Zoom in the first week of January 2024!

Plus the last paragraph aligns with my feelings moreorless. Although maybe we're giving our species too much credit! Perhaps the aspects of music that we might consider to be "human" are mostly just mechanistic emotional responses that can just as easily be learned by AI, and the formulaic nature of music theory could then be connected to this understanding in vivid detail to produce music of a deeply evocative nature. My point really is just that our emotions feel like the most human part of us but yet are in some way the most robotic.
