Duplicated a MIDI track with instruments, plays fine, but no sound from it when on solo

This I probably something simple to solve, the title says what I've done but it's strange there's no sound when I solo the track. Any thoughts? I've checked the volume is high enough. I noticed also that when I put a plugin on the duplicated track like Echo Boy that there is no effect.

In the screenshot, the top red MIDI track is the original and the bottom is one is the duplicate track.

I wanted to solo it so I could start editing the instruments and applying different effects so I wanted to hear this bit on it's own...

I started making music as a way of switching off from the day-to-day stuff and stresses. It's a great achievement to finish a track and upload it for others to enjoy.
The Novation Launchpad App is a great quick way to get into music before I think about anything more complex.

Really enjoyed the Ableton Loop event at the weekend, met some great musicians in the Cafe and some neat ideas in Ableton such as using the spray in Granualtor.
